About

Hi, I’m Lolly and I’m the author of Hickory Creek Lane, formerly Lolly’s Sweet & Savory Treats. I live in the heart of Ohio’s Amish Country in Walnut Creek with my wonderful husband, Robert, our ornery toddler, Smith, and our loyal chocolate lab, Athena.

I started a blog called Lolly’s Sweet & Savory Treats in 2011 while Robert and I were DINKs (dual income-no kids) living in Columbus. It began as a way to foster my hobbies of baking, cooking, food photography, and writing. Back then, I had extra time to find trendy ingredients and make more complicated recipes. However, now that we live in the country and have a young child, the focus of this blog has evolved into a way to document my adventures in home cooking for my family while living in Amish country. The land on which we live is peppered with shagbark hickory trees and a gentle creek flows adjacent to our drive, hence the name Hickory Creek Lane.

Eating is such a central part of our lives and it is always my goal to make more food from scratch when feasible, use high quality ingredients, limit the amount of processed and pre-packaged food our family consumes, and enjoy the process along the way.  Eating is meant to be an experience that we can share with one another. My favorite way to show love is to cook and bake for the individuals I cherish the most. It’s not always easy, but it’s always satisfying creating nutritious and delicious food with one’s own hands.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you will join me in my home cooking adventures in Amish country.
